Convenia® is an injectable cephalosporin that provides the effective treatment of common canine and feline bacterial skin infections, wounds, and abscesses.1-3

Indications

Dogs: Convenia is indicated for the treatment of skin infections (secondary superficial pyoderma, abscesses, and wounds) in dogs caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus intermedius and Streptococcus canis (Group G).3

Cats: Convenia is indicated for the treatment of skin infections (wounds and abscesses) in cats caused by susceptible strains of Pasteurella multocida.3

Convenia contains cefovecin, an antibiotic that is given by injection (under the skin). It is used for dogs and cats.

There are two vials in each pack of Convenia, one vial containing a powder, and one vial containing the diluent. The powder is dissolved in the diluent before use to make up a solution for injection.

Convenia is used to treat infections caused by certain specific bacteria (see the summary of product characteristics (SmPC) for further details). It is generally given as a single injection, and the effect of the injection lasts for up to 14 days. Depending on the infection concerned, the injection can be repeated if necessary (up to three times).

Convenia is used in dogs to treat skin and soft-tissue infections. These are infections on the skin and in the layers just below the skin, such as wounds, abscesses and pyoderma (a skin infection with a rash and pustules). It is also used in dogs to treat urinary-tract infections caused by certain specific bacteria.

Convenia is used in cats to treat skin and soft-tissue infections, such as wounds and abscesses. It is also used in cats to treat urinary-tract infections caused by certain specific bacteria.

Eliquis 5mg Tablet is commonly used in patients with irregular heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation) to prevent clot formation. It also reduces the risk of getting clots in people who have undergone elective knee or hip replacement surgeries. It can be taken with or without food and it is best to take them at the same time each day. You may need to take this medicine for many years, even for life in some cases.

Do not stop taking it or change the dose without guidance from your doctor. It could quickly put you more at risk of having a heart attack, stroke, or thrombosis (formation of a blood clot within a blood vessel). You can reduce your risk of having a blood clot by making changes to your lifestyle, such as not smoking, eating a healthy diet, getting regular exercise, and losing weight if you need to.

The most common side effect of Eliquis 5mg Tablet is bleeding more easily than normal, for example, having nosebleeds or bruising. If you experience any symptoms, tell your doctor immediately. Other side effects include hematoma, anemia, and nausea.

Do not take this medicine if you have severe kidney or liver problems, if you are currently bleeding, or if you are taking other medicines to reduce blood clotting. You should not breastfeed while using this medicine. Unlike other anticoagulants, a regular blood test (PT-INR) is not required while taking this medicine.

Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Stopping the medicine too early may lead to the infection returning or worsening.

This medicine may cause a skin rash, vomiting, fever, and vertigo as side effects. Therefore, please follow all the instructions given by your doctor while using this medicine.
